Governance Model
In the Winter of 2006 the Chamber Board of Directors struck an Engangement Task Force to review the current state of the Chamber's governance in light of evolving best practices and make recommendations on how to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the organization's governance.
The Task Force made recommedations to the Board that were approved in February 2007. These recommendations included determining the Board's governance philosophy, adopting a Board Charter, and developing a revised committee structure that sraws a distinction between "Board" committees and "Chamber" committees.
The overall goal was to have a higher level of Board engagement, greater connectivity among active volunteers at Committee level, and to remove "upstairs - downstairs" fell and take the Board to a broader engagement and ownership.
