Member Services

Being a member of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce means that you, your business and your employees are part of the largest Chamber among mid-size Canadian cities and the most respected Chamber in North America.

As a member you have the opportunity to:

Make New Business Contacts and Raise Your Profile

Networking at Chamber events puts you in touch with new customers, clients, peers and vendors. Chamber events are the best in the city, offering members multiple opportunities to make new contacts and secure new business at our monthly networking events which include Commerce Connections evenings and Distinguished Speakers Series luncheons and seminars. The Chamber's larger events – Spring and Fall Dinner, B2B Expo and Halifax Business Awards – provide members with the opportunity to hear from our top political and business leaders, to participate in Halifax's largest business-to-business tradeshow and celebrate our local success.

Nervous about networking? No problem! We provide all new members with the opportunity to learn how to network the right way at our monthly Networking for Success seminars. You can also secure new clients and promote your business by becoming involved with one of the Chamber's many volunteer committees.

Market Your Products and Services

As a member you can take advantage of the Chamber's many low-cost marketing opportunities. Advertise your business monthly in the Members In The News section of the Chamber magazine, Business Voice, or secure a booth at the Chamber's Commerce Connections events or annual Business-to-Business Expo. Another great way to get your company name known is to become a partner in a Chamber event. Depending on the scope, your name will be advertised directly to anywhere from 100 to 1,000 Chamber members at the event and countless others through our aggressive advertising schedule. For more information on partnerships, contact Melissa Hawkes, Event Manager.

Save Your Company Money

The Chamber offers members an array of cost savings through our benefit programs. These include the Chamber of Commerce Group Insurance Plan, Group Home and Auto Insurance, Merchant Visa and MasterCard Program, Rental Vehicle Program, Payroll Discount Program, Certificate of Origin Service, Business Voice Advertising Discount, and "Networking for Success" Seminars to name a few!

Get Timely Business Information

Chamber members receive a monthly subscription to Business Voice magazine. Published ten times per year, Business Voice is filled with coverage and analysis of local business issues, as well as member announcements and updates. The Chamber's Business Directory, available in both print and web-based formats, offers members at-a-glance access to member-business information, listing members by industry type and key contact name. Chamber members also gain access to the organization's e-newsletters, Business Voice Online and Chamber Events Online.

Gain a Voice in Government

The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is the only independent, Halifax-focused, business advocacy organization in the city. The Chamber actively lobbies government at the municipal, provincial and federal levels on behalf of members, regarding those issues identified as important to members. You can participate in this process by letting our president know what issues are important to you by participating in polls, surveys and by serving on one of the many Chamber Committees or Task Forces. The Chamber also works to create a better business environment for our members with initiatives such as the Greater Halifax Partnership. Your membership in the Chamber supports this type of initiative and promotes solid economic growth.
