Halifax ranks 4th overall for best international business locations
March 22, 2012- Halifax, NS – KPMG has released its much anticipated Competitive Alternatives Report: KPMG's Guide to International Business Location Cost that compares business costs and other competitiveness factors in more than 110 cities and 14 countries. “Halifax is in a virtual dead heat with three other Atlantic Canadian Cities as best in world among cities with less than one million people in mature economies,” says Brian Rose, Vice President of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce.
Manchester, England, Moncton; New Brunswick; Fredericton, New Brunswick round out the top 4 with scores that were within a fraction of Halifax’s 4th place ranking.
“What is an added bonus is that by their nature, smaller cities tend to have lower costs for business and thus we can say that Halifax has the 4th lowest business costs in the world!” says Rose.
The primary focus of Competitive Alternatives is international business costs. The study measures the combined impact of 26 significant cost components that vary by location, over a 10-year analysis horizon commencing in 2012. The study compares 19 different business operations.
“This report is an annual reminder that Halifax isn’t just a great place to live but really is a world class place to do business,” adds Rose.
