New employee orientation gives management the chance to develop a positive relationship between your new hire and your organization. It fuels employee enthusiasm and can lead to long term positive relationships.
Socialization is more involved than just introducing a new employee to the rest of the staff. Including the new employee in lunches, coffee breaks/conversation are important in making a new employee feel welcomed. This helps with office morale which ties into motivation and engagement. But beyond the workplace, it is the soft skills that employers feel many new staff are missing including communication skills, etiquette, and personal presentation.
