Reports

The Chamber's Health Action committee has developed Health Monitor – a report that monitors health indicators, and actions and strategies that address health and health care issues. The main purpose of Health Monitor is to effect changes in government and business that will improve both individual health and the health and sustainability of the health care system.

It calls on the government to have an integrated long-term plan for HR, capital and information systems, it calls on the government to incent businesses to have workplace wellness initiatives. It calls on businesses to initiate a workplace wellness program, to integrate health and wellness into business planning and strategy and to recognize the importance of mental health. Health Monitor also aims to encourage individuals to change their behaviours, it suggests that individuals increase their physical activity, follow the Canada Food Guide, and lobby politicians for increased emphasis on health promotion and long-term health care planning. Coupled with these recommendations are targets for improved health.
